Entergy Employees Provide Labor of Love for Customer

07/28/2015

Providing excellent customer service is what Entergy employees strive for each day, but every year employees in the Entergy Gulf States Louisiana West region go above and beyond to help a customer in need.

A number of Entergy Gulf States Louisiana employees spent a recent hot summer day improving the home of a Carencro customer as part of a Love INC project. Since hurricanes Ike and Gustav devastated the area in 2008, EGSL West employees have partnered with Love, INC each year to repair and improve the homes of low-income customers. This year, the crew went to Carencro to help a senior citizen living alone get some badly needed home improvements.

"We did some weatherization to her house. We installed a new air conditioner, a new stove, a water heater blanket and did other minor repairs," said Jennings Customer Service Representative Lorena Ceasar. "Sometimes the home owners are crying, because they are getting this assistance for free. They don't have family members or someone who can come help them do repairs, so they are extremely grateful."

Ceasar and Administrative Assistant Jennifer Fawvor spent much of the day caulking gaps in windows and doors and cracks in walls and siding. They also hauled away trash and assisted co-workers with construction and installation of appliances.

Fawvor said these projects are a full day of work, but it is fun and rewarding to work alongside colleagues and provide help to customers who need it.

"This one was especially rewarding, because the lady was obviously in need. I think we did some things that will really help her," Fawvor said. "She was a very sweet lady. We look forward to next year's project."
