Theo Bunting, Jr. was named group president of Entergy’s Utility Operations in April 2012. In this role, he is responsible for financial results of the regulated utilities, along with operational results of electric and natural gas distribution and customer service. In addition, Bunting oversees utility regulatory support and regulated retail activities.
Prior to his current role, he served as senior vice president and chief accounting officer for Entergy Corporation and its subsidiaries, where he was responsible for overseeing the preparation of monthly financial reports and certain regulatory filings, as well as formulating and administering accounting policies, procedures and controls throughout the business. He also led the budgeting process and supported Entergy’s strategic and financial plan for the utility business.
He began his professional career in public accounting with Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1981. He joined Entergy Arkansas in 1983, serving in various staff and management roles in which he was responsible for rate making, finance, tax and systems development. He has been involved in the development and growth of Entergy’s non-regulated businesses, covering areas such as customer service, operations support, risk management, budgeting, forecasting and accounting.
He has held numerous leadership roles while at Entergy, including vice president and chief financial officer – Nuclear Operations; vice president and chief financial officer – System Energy Resources, Inc.; vice president and chief financial officer – Operations; and vice president and chief financial officer for the five utility subsidiaries.
Bunting rejoined Entergy in April 1999 after having been co-founder and partner in a utility consulting business focusing on product development.
Bunting serves on numerous boards, including Imation Corporation, where he serves as a member of the Audit and Finance Committee and the Nominating and Governance Committee; Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited, as chairman of its Audit Committee; the Foundation for the Mid South, where he serves on its Finance and Audit committees; and the Unum Group. He is also a member of the Executive Leadership Council.
Bunting graduated from Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. He became a certified public accountant in 1983 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Bunting serves on the Hendrix College Board of Trustees and its Finance and Audit committees. He was honored with the Hendrix Odyssey of Life Achievement Award for his accomplishments in leadership and professional development in 2005 and is CareerFOCUS Magazine’s 2008 Eagle Award Recipient.
