Grants totaling more than $32,000 power life in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – The Entergy Charitable Foundation is powering life in New Orleans with recent grants to nonprofit partners totaling more than $32,000. Charitable organizations may apply for support by completing the application form by Feb. 1, 2016.

The grants, funded by shareholders, create value for customers and local communities by enhancing educational opportunities, protecting the environment and providing resources for low-income customers. The grants bring Entergy Corporation's total giving for 2015 to approximately $16 million, including $2.1 million from the Entergy Charitable Foundation. The foundation awards grants in two cycles each year.

Grants awarded to New Orleans organizations in this cycle include:

· $25,000 to the Greater New Orleans Development Foundation for regional economic development support serving as a catalyst for wealth creation in the 10-parish region of Southeast Louisiana.
· $5,000 to Ozanam Inn providing shelter and food for elderly and homeless New Orleanians. Programming helps identify and address issues that might impede residents from obtaining and sustaining permanent housing.
· $2,500 to Elevate New Orleans, Inc. for an afterschool enrichment program for student-athletes providing a daily mix of athletic, academic and social development activities.

"Not only do Entergy employees power life by keeping the lights on and the gas flowing, but also by improving our community through volunteerism and other contributions," said Charles Rice, president and CEO of Entergy New Orleans, Inc. "We are glad to give back and shareholder dollars made available through the Entergy Charitable Foundation strengthen our community by supporting education, breaking the cycle of poverty and improving the environment."
