Hurricane season doesn’t officially start until June 1, but that didn’t stop a rain-filled weather system from pummeling parts of the eastern Gulf Coast last week or a tropical disturbance from threatening to enter the Gulf of Mexico later this week. With slightly above-average activity predicted for the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season, Entergy wants you to know it is ready to safely and quickly restore power should a storm strike our area.
The National Weather Service has designated Feb. 19-23, 2018 as Severe Weather Awareness Week. Both the Louisiana and New Orleans offices of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness have joined in the recognition. They and other partners are urging everyone to “Get a Game Plan” and stay “NOLA Ready” in the event of severe weather. Entergy prepares year-round for disruptive storm events and encourages everyone to prepare, too.
Weather forecasts released this spring differ in their predictions for the 2016 tropical storm season. Whether there are no storms, two storms or 10, Entergy Louisiana stands ready to restore power to customers if one strikes in the areas it serves.
