NEW ORLEANS -- Beginning Monday, Aug. 17 and running through Tuesday, Aug. 18, weather permitting, Entergy New Orleans, Inc. crews will be working in the Monroe Street area as the company continues the technological upgrade to its electric power transmission system.
Multiple Entergy crews with bucket trucks and cranes will conduct work in stages and traffic will be blocked at the site of each steel transmission pole. Here’s a breakdown:
· When grounding and "post-pull" work is underway, there will be rotating traffic closures (2-4 hours) and no parking will be allowed on either side of Monroe Street. Instead of using Monroe, drivers should use Leonidas Street to Oak Street to River Road.
· During the critical "pull" work, all automobile, bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be prohibited on Monroe Street, from Zimpel Street to Oak Street and there will be no parking allowed on either side of Monroe during the pull. However, Leake Avenue traffic will not be affected during the "pull" work.
Customers in the impacted areas have received specific information about the transmission line replacement procedure in advance. Customer service representatives will continue reaching out to impacted customers while work is in progress.
