NEW ORLEANS -- Beginning Monday, Aug. 31 running through Wednesday, Sept. 2, weather permitting, Entergy New Orleans, Inc. crews will be working on General Pershing Street, from Laurel to Tchoupitoulas streets as the company continues the technological upgrade to its electric power transmission system.

Multiple Entergy crews with bucket trucks and cranes will conduct work in stages and traffic will be blocked at the site of each steel transmission pole. Here’s a breakdown:

· When "pre-pull" and "post-pull" work is underway, there will be rotating traffic closures (2-4 hours) and no parking will be allowed on either side of General Pershing. Instead of using General Pershing, drivers should use Napoleon Avenue.

· During the critical "pull" work, all automobile, bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be prohibited on General Pershing from Laurel to Tchoupitoulas Street. Annunciation Street will also be closed to thru traffic at General Pershing and there will be no parking allowed on either side of General Pershing during the pull. There will be a safe/guarded crossing at Tchoupitoulas Street.

Customers in the impacted areas have received specific information about the transmission line replacement procedure in advance. Customer service representatives will continue reaching out to impacted customers while work is in progress.
