Entergy Arkansas Continues Power Restoration
A line of severe thunderstorms with straight line winds has moved through Entergy’s service area causing approximately 54,500 outages across the state. As of 6:00 p.m. outages have been reduced from the peak of more than 42,800 outages to 15,809 outages.
Entergy crews are assessing damage and restoring power as quickly and safely as possible. Assessment is ongoing, with the majority of the damage assessment completed today. So far, we have identified at least 283 broken poles and 356 spans of wire.
Restoration times for all affected customers are not yet available, although updates will be provided via the outage map as crews can make those determinations. It is estimated that 80 percent of the affected customers will be restored by Monday evening, with the hardest-hit areas extending into Tuesday.
We have approximately 1,115 restoration workers, scouts and vegetation personnel working to restore power. This includes an additional 250 linemen travelling to Arkansas to assist with the restoration.
As of 6:00 p.m. January 11, 2020, approximately 1,000 customers in the northern Bald Knob area towards Plainview remain without power. An additional 1,900 customers remain without power in the southern Bald Knob area towards Judsonia. Multiple crews are working on the damages, currently including 6 broken poles, 12 spans of wire down, and 15 damaged equipment locations. We expect to have most customers restored by 10:00 tonight.
Hamburg, Crossett, Fountain Hill, Portland, Montrose, Parkdale, and Wilmot
As of 4:00 p.m. January 11, 2020, approximately 3,800 customers are without power in the Crossett/Hamburg service area. Crews are working to repair 24 broken poles, 26 spans of downed wire, and 17 damaged equipment locations. Today, crews have begun work to restore service in heavily damaged areas in North Crossett and assess additional damage in the Crossett and Hamburg areas. A safe work plan is under way to restore power to multiple substations in the Ashley County service territory as a result of downed transmission structures.
Lake Village Area
As of 4:30 p.m. January 11, 2020, approximately 3,000 customers are without power in the Lake Village service area. A safe work plan is under way to restore power to the Lake Village substation in the Chicot County service territory as a result of downed transmission structures.
As of 4:30 p.m. January 11, 2020, approximately 560 customers are without power in the Rohwer service area. A safe work plan is under way to restore power to the Rohwer substations in the Desha County service territory as a result of downed transmission structures.
Monticello & Wilmar
As of 4:00 p.m. January 11, 2020, approximately 900 customers are without power in the Monticello service area. Crews have identified and are working to repair 7 broken poles, 11 spans of downed wire, and 7 damaged equipment locations. Crews have worked to restore service in heavily damaged areas south of Monticello on Hwy 425 and Bowser Rd. Most customers in these areas should have electric service restored by 12:00 noon tomorrow.
As of 6:00 p.m. January 11, 2020, approximately 850 customers in the Pine Bluff/Sheridan area remain without power. Entergy crews are working on the damages, currently including 9 broken poles, 15 spans of downed wire, and 28 damaged equipment locations. We expect to have most customers restored by 10:00 tomorrow night.
As with any weather event, please be mindful of the following safety tips:
- Live wires can be deadly. Stay away from downed power lines. Call 1 800 9OUTAGE or 1 800 968 8243 to report downed or dangling power lines, poles or other damaged equipment.
- Do not trim trees or remove debris on or near downed power lines. Only power company crews or their contractors should remove trees or limbs touching power lines.
- Keep away from the immediate areas where crews are working. There is always the danger of moving equipment and the possibility of construction materials or limbs or overhead wires falling to the ground.
- If you plan on using a generator for temporary power, get a licensed electrician and disconnect from the utility electric system before hooking up to your home main electric panel.
- Do not run a generator in a confined space without adequate ventilation.
- Avoid using candles or other flammable devices to warm your home.
- Try to stay off the roads. More traffic in bad weather leads to more accidents, including more injuries and fatalities as well as accidents that can damage electrical poles and other equipment, creating outages and impeding the ability of crews to access and repair damage and slowing restoration.
