Entergy New Orleans and Entergy Louisiana storm restoration update – 3/24/22

03/24/2022

Utility crews have restored power to all New Orleans East customers affected by Tuesday’s severe weather and expect to restore power to Arabi-area customers who can safely accept electric service by sometime today.

It is estimated that 25% of Arabi-area customers who were in the path of severe weather that spawned a tornado and lost power saw some structural damage to their homes and will need to have an electrician make repairs. Then, the repairs will need to be followed up by an inspection through St. Bernard Parish government before Entergy can safely reconnect service.

At the peak, approximately 25,000 customers were without power in Louisiana because of the storms. Although severe weather caused significant damage to portions of the company’s distribution and transmission equipment, crews are executing a plan that will reroute power and restore service to customers who can safely accept it ahead of rebuilding some infrastructure.

Customers are encouraged to keep safety top of mind by staying away from downed power lines and other electric equipment, as well utility crews and their worksites. Also, if using a generator, please make sure all manufacturer guidelines are followed and the generator is placed in a well-ventilated area.
