Tropical Storm Barry Update

07/12/2019

We have assembled a workforce of nearly 2,000 restoration workers committed to restore electrical service disrupted in Louisiana by Tropical Storm Barry. Our gas distribution workforce is ready to respond to disruptions of gas delivery in our Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas.

After landfall and as soon as it is safe to do so, Entergy will immediately begin assessing damages and restoring power. This process could take several days depending on the severity of the storm’s impact.

We continue implementing our detailed, rehearsed plan that has worked well for us during past storm events. We encourage you to finalize your preparations.

We will move our equipment and personnel out of harm’s way to ensure we are ready and able to restore power. Workers will not move back into the area to begin restoration until it is safe to do so.

Once our workers are back in the affected areas, we can begin restoring service to customers by closing circuit breakers, rerouting power and other means. But we must wait until sustained winds are less than 30 mph to use our bucket trucks.

As we learn more about the damage, we put in place a restoration plan that helps us restore the greatest number customers safely in the shortest amount of time.
