Entergy Charitable Foundation Invests More Than $690,000 in Community Improvements

Grants Support Efforts of More than 60 Nonprofit Organizations

NEW ORLEANS – Entergy is bringing the blues to Arkansas schools, teaching Louisianans how to save energy, and helping create holiday joy for young Vermonters through the latest round of grants from the Entergy Charitable Foundation.  This is the third and final grant distribution cycle for the Entergy Charitable Foundation in 2012, bringing the year's total in grants awarded through the foundation to more than $2,980,000. Including foundation grants Entergy Corporation's year-to-date charitable contributions to local nonprofits for 2012 total more than $14 million.

Among the programs supported in this awards cycle are a Blues-in-Schools public education program in Helena-West Helena, Ark; an energy efficiency program called Light up Jefferson Parish in Louisiana; and an environmental initiative at the New England Wildlife Center in Massachusetts. Also supported are a holiday meal program in Jackson, Miss.; an arts education initiative of the South East Texas Arts Council Inc. in Beaumont, Texas; an Adventure in Reading program in New Orleans, La., and Christmas toys for needy children in Brattleboro, Vt.

Entergy's grants support communities served by Entergy's utilities in the South as well as those near the company's nuclear plant sites in the Northeast and Michigan. The Entergy Charitable Foundation is a private, nonprofit foundation wholly funded by Entergy Corporation shareholders. The goal of the foundation is to support initiatives that help create and sustain thriving communities.
