JACKSON, Miss. -- On Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as part of Nuclear Science Week, the local chapters of Entergy’s Women in Nuclear and North American Young Generation in Nuclear are teaming with the Mississippi Children’s Museum to educate youth on nuclear science and promote careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. More than 200 children between the ages of two and six years old are expected to attend this event. Tables will be set up with interactive activities related to energy and nuclear power.

“It’s important that we promote education and spark an interest towards STEM careers among our youth,” said Chris Bakken, chief nuclear officer, Entergy Nuclear. “It’s imperative that we show our presence in the communities we serve by lending a helping hand. Nuclear Science Week gives Entergy employees an opportunity to be ambassadors of nuclear science and share the benefits of nuclear power.”

Nuclear Science Week is a partnership between the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History, located in Albuquerque, NM, and nuclear industry partners. Individuals from the Nuclear Literacy Project, the American Nuclear Society, the North American Young Generation in Nuclear and the National Science Teachers Association comprise the NSW national steering committee that orchestrates NSW every year.
