A workforce of more than 13,000 will restore outages caused by Hurricane Laura
Members of Entergy’s storm team are assessing damages and restoring power where it is safe to do so after Hurricane Laura made landfall Thursday near Cameron as a catastrophic Category 4 hurricane, causing widespread damage to Entergy’s electrical system and knocking out power to customers across Louisiana and east Texas.
Forecasts indicate Laura will impact Southern Arkansas Thursday at noon and further into the state later in the day, causing power outages from tropical storm-force winds, tornadoes, additional thunderstorms, heavy rain and flash flooding, which could lead to days-long outages.
Hurricane Laura is predicted to strengthen as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to impact Entergy Arkansas customers starting Thursday.
The National Weather Service is forecasting severe weather in Arkansas this afternoon and tonight that could cause power outages.
