Following three waves of extreme winter weather, power supply availability has improved across our territory. Our reliability coordinator, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, stated this morning the MISO system is steady and stable.
Restoration progress over the last few days has reduced the number of customer outages caused by the series of winter storms. A significant number of outages still remain in Louisiana and Mississippi.
As of 7 a.m., about 55,000 Entergy Mississippi customers remain without power as a result of Wednesday’s winter weather, down from a peak of approximately 90,000. We have brought in more resources and, along with our own workforce, more than 1,800 lineworkers, vegetation workers, damage assessors and support personnel are restoring power as quickly and safely as possible.
If you lose power after being restored for a short time period, please report the outage to Entergy again.
As of 8 a.m., there are approximately 690 customers without power. Cold weather continues today as temperatures are expected to remain at or below freezing until Saturday.
Ice accumulation on trees and power lines from Wednesday’s wave of winter weather continue causing significant power outages for customers across Entergy Mississippi’s service territory. Our restoration efforts continue, as the demand for electricity is growing. We will restore service to our customers as safely and quickly as possible. However, restoration will take a few days.
