Additional Workers Assisting with Entergy Mississippi Restoration Efforts

01/12/2020

As of 7 p.m., power has been restored for 25,300 Entergy Mississippi customers. About 13,000 customers remain without power, down from a peak of 38,300. We currently have more than 400 poles, 775 spans of line, 16 transformers and 331 cross arms to repair or replace. Damage to our grid also includes 35 transmission structures affecting seven substations. The majority of our customers without power are north of Highway 82 from Greenville and Rosedale on the river northeast to Hernando.

Since this morning, we have brought in even more workers to assist with this major restoration effort. In addition to our Entergy Mississippi crews and day-to-day contractors, we now have more than 350 additional workers on the ground and another 30 will arrive on Monday to help restore power. We still anticipate restoration to last several days and expect some customers will remain without power into Tuesday evening.

We understand how difficult it is to wait for power so you can get your lives back to normal and we appreciate your patience as we rebuild damaged infrastructure, including poles, wires, substations and major lines. The safety of our workers and customers remains our key value. As we continue to restore service, please remember:

  • Power is restored faster in areas with less damage. Some of the hardest-hit areas may take longer.
  • Service lines to individual homes and businesses will be restored last because fewer customers are involved. In the case of fewer outages spread over larger areas, it often takes more time to get power back on for them.
  • As we restore service in your area, keep in mind that if you don’t see us working near you, we may be working on another part of the electrical system that you can’t see but must be repaired to get power to you.
  • Please do not approach utility workers at the job site because these can be dangerous locations. Interruptions will slow their progress.

We will continue to keep you informed using the following channels:
