Hurricane Ida Daily News Conference – 9/8/21
On Day 10 of the restoration effort, service has been restored to 600,000 of the 902,000 customers who lost power due to Hurricane Ida. In the Greater New Orleans area, 83% or 170,000 of our 205,000 customers now have power back. In addition, we have made great progress in many of our parishes, including Jefferson and St. Bernard Parishes, and have brought first lights on in Thibodaux and restored the Port in New Orleans. Baton Rouge is restored and now we’re working in Greater New Orleans, Metairie and the West Bank to get them to 90%.
As we complete restoration in some areas, we’re sending those workers to our hardest-hit places so that we can get them on just as quick as we are safely able to do so.
