The annual event raised a total of $118,000, which will go toward helping senior customers and customers with disabilities

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Southeast Texas community brought their “A” game to the putting green and helped Entergy Texas reach a new fundraising milestone for its Power to Care program. Power to Care provides utility bill-payment assistance for qualifying older adult customers and customers with disabilities living on low or fixed incomes. Participants in the company's 14th annual Power to Care Charity Classic Golf Tournament helped raised a record-setting $118,000, which is a significant increase from last year’s total of $65,000.

“As the Entergy Texas customer base continues to grow, so do the needs of those customers, which is why we are incredibly thankful for every donation that helps support some of the most vulnerable residents in our communities,” said Corrin Barrow, Entergy Texas public affairs representative and event organizer. “When someone donates to our Power to Care program, Entergy shareholders match the gift up to $1 million annually, doubling the impact of the contribution.”

The 2023 Power to Care golf tournament hosted 36 teams with 144 players who helped make an impact in the lives of Entergy Texas customers. Kiewit and Sargent & Lundy partnered together as the Presenting Diamond sponsor.

“This is a special event we look forward to participating in year after year,” said Sean McHone, senior vice-president of Sargent & Lundy. “Not only is it an opportunity to see our industry colleagues and partners, but more importantly, it's an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community by helping people in need through Entergy’s Power to Care program.”

Since the Power to Care program began in 1983, the fund has paid out more than $10.6 million, helping customers with more than 95,000 utility bills.
