Pilgrim Successfully Enters Phase I of Decommissioning

Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station entered Phase I of plant decommissioning following safe removal of nuclear fuel from the reactor into the spent fuel pool, and NRC docketing of the certifications of permanent cessation of operations and permanent removal of fuel from the reactor on June 11. Approximately 270 site employees are being retained to perform post-shutdown operations.

Vermont Public Utility Commission Approves Entergy Vermont Yankee Sale

The Vermont Public Utility Commission (PUC) today issued an order that approves the proposed sale of Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee to subsidiaries of NorthStar Group Services for decommissioning the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station site. The PUC also issued an amended Certificate of Public Good, which authorizes NorthStar to own, possess the licenses for, and decommission Vermont Yankee.
