As the storm moves slowly through our service territory, outage numbers will continue to fluctuate. While our number of customers affected remains fairly consistent, we have already restored over 188,000 customers.
A workforce of more than 3,900 Entergy scouts, line crews and contractors are continuing to perform damage assessments and restoration where it is safe to do so as Barry, which made landfall yesterday as a Category 1 hurricane, continues a northerly track through Louisiana.
Due to the accessibility challenges, it may take several days following landfall before power is restored to the majority of our customers.
Barry, which briefly became a Category 1 hurricane Saturday before being downgraded to a tropical storm, continues to crawl across Louisiana, delivering heavy rains, high winds, coastal flooding and power outages. A storm team of approximately 3,400 is continuing damage assessments and restoration where it is safe to do.
Power has been knocked out to approximately 58,000 customers as of 10:30 a.m. Saturday as Hurricane Barry moves over the Louisiana coast.
As soon as it is safe to do so, we will immediately begin assessing damage and restoring power. This process could take several days depending on the severity of the storm’s impact.
