Entergy Louisiana crews and contractors are working to improve the electric system for nearly 3,000 residents in the Westminster area of Baton Rouge.

Crews have performed tree trimming work in the area and will be doing a mix of installing devices to protect the electric system from animal contact and replacing utility poles, crossarms, switches and other equipment.

Some of the work has been challenging due to electric equipment being in hard-to-access backyards of homes. This has required the use of specialized backyard machines and some of the work to be performed manually.

In addition to ongoing reliability work, Entergy Louisiana has a proposed resilience plan, or an accelerated grid hardening effort, that’s under review with the Louisiana Public Service Commission. Together, ongoing reliability work and a strategic resilience plan would help protect the state against future weather events and support the local economy.
