Crews continue working to restore power in Flippin.
Crews continue working to restore power in Flippin.

Multiple storms moved through the state May 24 and May 25, causing widespread power outages, toppling transmission structures, breaking utility poles and causing major property damage.

As soon as the storms passed, Entergy Arkansas went to work and has restored approximately 47,000 power interruptions. There were several confirmed tornadoes in Northwest Arkansas that caused extensive damage. In addition to broken power poles and downed lines, substations and transmission structures were also damaged, many in hard-to-reach areas. The Flippin service territory was impacted the most, sustaining extensive transmission damage.

Entergy Arkansas would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the men and women who worked around the clock to safely restore power. Nearly 1,000 workers – including Entergy Arkansas vegetation crews, scouts, contractors, and mutual assistance resources from outside of the state – have been in the field working. Restoring your power as quickly and safely as possible is our top priority, and we appreciate your patience.

Consistent with our commitment to powering life for our customers every day, our crews are rebuilding the system with thicker, stronger poles. In some cases, concrete poles are being used to improve system infrastructure and make it more resilient.
