Laborde receives recognition as 2023 Louisiana Locator of the Year

In acknowledgment of his dedication and expertise, Joey Laborde, Entergy Louisiana gas locator, was recently recognized as 2023 Louisiana Locator of the Year. This notable achievement was announced at the Louisiana 811 Damage Prevention Summit held in Baton Rouge, where Laborde's significant contributions to his field were celebrated.

During his time with Entergy, Laborde has consistently demonstrated a commitment to ensuring the integrity of Baton Rouge's gas distribution system. With a career deeply rooted in the utility industry, Laborde brings to his role a wealth of experience accumulated over three decades. From utility damage prevention to project management and GIS utilization, his expertise encompasses a diverse array of responsibilities, showcasing his versatility and proficiency in the field.

When discussing his role at Entergy, Laborde highlights the fulfilling nature of his work. He finds satisfaction in the daily challenges of safeguarding infrastructure and values the opportunity to engage with a variety of individuals, from contractors to customers.

“This line of work has been fulfilling and gives me purpose,” Laborde said. “It has been a joy to work on the gas distribution system in Baton Rouge and make sure our customers have a service they can depend on.”

Reflecting on his journey, Laborde offers practical advice to those just beginning their careers, encouraging them to pursue work that is aligned with their passions and values.

“Always do what you do with a high work ethic and integrity,” Laborde said. “Every career will have its fair share of challenges as well as opportunities for growth, so be consistent and resilient and success will follow.”

Outside of his professional life, Laborde enjoys photography, fishing and the outdoors and is active with his church and the many service-oriented activities it performs. His story is inspiration to others at Entergy as he puts the company’s customer service and continuous improvement values into practice.
