John Dinelli

John Dinelli is the executive vice president and chief nuclear officer at Entergy where he has overall responsibility for the safe, secure and reliable operations of the company’s Arkansas Nuclear One, Grand Gulf, River Bend and Waterford 3 nuclear plants, as well as headquarters. John is also a member of Entergy’s office of the chief executive, reporting to Chairman and CEO Drew Marsh.

Dinelli assumed his current leadership role in 2025 after working as the chief operating officer, nuclear operations for more than two years. Prior to the COO role, John served as vice president, nuclear independent oversight, for the nuclear fleet. He is based in Jackson, Miss., the headquarters for the nuclear business.

 In Sept. 2019, Dinelli was named site vice president for ANO, located in Russellville, Arkansas. Prior to ANO, he worked as the site vice president for Entergy’s Waterford 3 Steam Electric Station, located in Killona, Louisiana. Prior to becoming Waterford’s site vice president, he completed a loaned assignment with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations as an organizational effectiveness lead evaluator.

Before his INPO assignment, Dinelli served as general manager of plant operations for Entergy’s Indian Point Energy Center in June 2013. Dinelli had worked as IPEC’s operations manager since April 2010. Throughout his career at IPEC, Dinelli held several positions in operations and maintenance, including control room supervisor, shift manager and assistant operations manager. Dinelli, who has more than 30 years of experience in the nuclear industry, first hired on at IPEC in 1989 as an engineering intern. Two years later, he assumed the role of operations shift technical advisor with the New York Power Authority at Indian Point 3.

Dinelli earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Manhattan College. He received his senior reactor operator’s license from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 1996.
