BEAUMONT, Texas - Entergy Texas has started additional power outages for its customers across the Eastern portion of its Texas service territory, which includes Jefferson, Orange, Hardin and Liberty counties. The company is taking this action as directed by our reliability coordinator, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, as a last resort and in order to prevent a more extensive, prolonged power outage that could severely affect the reliability of the power grid.
Entergy Texas customer are asked to voluntarily reduce their electricity usage, especially between 5 pm and 9 pm.
High electrical power demand has caused a power shortage and issues caused by the winter weather event are impacting generation units.
Entergy Texas’ western region is experiencing a record all-time load.
Due to bitterly cold temperatures and the winter storm, the demand for electricity has reached an all-time high.
