Entergy executives and government officials gathered in Westlake, Louisiana, on Jan. 22, 2018, to break ground for the Lake Charles Power Station, an $872 million natural gas-fired combined-cycle unit. The plant, which is scheduled to be in commercial operation by June 2020, will produce enough energy to meet the average power needs of 675,000 Louisiana homes.

Entergy Louisiana’s 980-megawatt St. Charles Power Station will be one of the cleanest and most efficient fossil fuel-fired plants in the company’s fleet when it begins commercial operation in June 2019.
