Proposed $1B investment will cut outage times by half
The replacement of the wood structures represents the majority of a $28 million annual investment Entergy Mississippi is making to harden the grid. So far, more than 1,000 aged wood structures have been replaced.
Entergy Louisiana recently completed construction of a transmission project that adds resiliency and increases reliability to the electrical grid in southwest Louisiana. The completion of this project will also help attract new economic development projects to the region and benefit existing residential, commercial and industrial customers in the area.
The proposal benefits customers, supports growth in Southeast Texas and helps strengthen the state’s economy.
Entergy Louisiana representatives, local officials and community members gathered Wednesday along Louisiana Highway 1 to celebrate the future of power in Grand Isle.
Crews plan to inspect more than 43,000 poles to help prevent outages.
Customers in St. Bernard Parish are now being served by a more reliable and resilient electric system after Entergy Louisiana placed a new substation and transmission lines into service.
Approximately $220 million in grants, if approved, could help fund proposed infrastructure investments to increase reliability and resiliency of the electric system and reduce storm impacts while speeding up recovery
