As the pandemic continues creating economic hardships for many Americans, free tax-return assistance provided by Entergy volunteers has been vital in helping customers receive Earned Income Tax Credits, one of the most effective tools for lifting low-income workers and their families above the poverty line.

Entergy volunteers worked with our long-time community partners at Rebuilding Together New Orleans to help build a wheelchair ramp for a couple and provided additional home safety measures for families in New Orleans East.

Amid a pandemic, Entergy takes seriously the health and safety of our workforce, customers and communities. During the 21st refueling and maintenance outage, the River Bend Station team established some strong partnerships with local businesses outside normal refueling partnerships.

One thousand Entergy customers across the company’s service territory in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas took the opportunity during fall 2020 to help improve and protect the environment with a free tree from Entergy to plant at home.

Entergy will once again help customers who qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit claim the money they’ve earned. Entergy will also continue its partnership with community advocates to support free IRS-certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance tax preparation services for qualifying customers.

Danny Games, director of business and economic development for Entergy Arkansas, traces the roots of what he does for a living to 1913, the year Harvey Couch created the company that would eventually become Entergy. Couch built his business on the philosophy and on the slogan, "Helping Build Arkansas."
