From supporting the environment, education and low-income areas to teaching students about nuclear energy, grants were provided in communities where Entergy’s nuclear plants operate. This includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Michigan.
Employees, contractors and community engagement are key to the plant’s long-term success.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has renewed operating licenses for Entergy’s two nuclear plants in Louisiana, River Bend Nuclear Station and Waterford 3 Steam Electric Station.
Entergy’s support of the initiative continues with a $25,000 grant.
Work Boosts Local Economy by Bringing in 1,100 Additional Workers
Control room operators removed Entergy’s River Bend Nuclear Station from service on Jan. 28 to begin its 19th scheduled refueling and maintenance outage. River Bend is investing more than $61 million to complete the refueling and other important projects. That investment translates to additional economic activity for the surrounding communities from dozens of vendors and over 1,100 additional contract workers, many from outside the area.
