DeSoto County, Miss.— It’s a wild idea, and Entergy Mississippi is funding it. Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation, Inc. has big plans for the ARK site just west of Hernando. The organization, which serves nearly half a million Mississippians in 13 counties, wants to develop the area into a full conservation-education eco-tourist destination in north Mississippi.
On Saturday, Oct. 17, the city of New Orleans will host the newest community event for cyclists of all ability levels with the inaugural Entergy Bike the Big Easy. This unique format offers cyclists the opportunity to ride on closed city streets over a short 20-mile course or a longer 40-mile course, all while enjoying the non-competitive nature of the event. Nine community organizations working to boost education, expand environmental programs, promote cultural activities or help create poverty solutions in communities served by Entergy Mississippi, Inc. have been awarded some $43,500 in grants from the Entergy Charitable Foundation.
Of the more than $930,000 in grants recently awarded by the Entergy Charitable Foundation, New Orleans-area groups received some $284,000 to help the local community.
